Seeking testers for new product to treat and prevent denture sores
New research conducted by ORAHEALTH scientists suggests that a new product containing Glycyrrhiza (licorice root) extract (which is an anti-inflammatory) will be the best solution for relieving pain and speeding healing of sores caused by wearing dentures.
Glycyrrhiza extract (GX) is the active ingredient in CankerMelts, which provides the most rapid pain relief and healing for canker sores. Even though it is not intended for use on denture sores while the dentures are being worn (it works great at other times), many people have reported that CankerMelts is the best product they have tried for denture sores. They hold the disc in their mouths near the sore, perhaps stuck to an outside edge of the denture where it meets the gums, rather than putting it directly on the sore where it would conflict with the denture.
We are now developing a new way to deliver GX directly on denture sores by incorporating GX into a paste type denture adhesive. You can put a blob of the paste on the denture in the right spot before placing it in your mouth. The GX will then be held in contact with the sore for hours. We will likely include other active ingredients as well.
If you do not normally use denture adhesive, this product will not conflict at all with your normal use of your dentures. If you do use denture adhesive, this product can be your only adhesive or you can use our new product in the critical spots and use your normal adhesive on other parts of your denture.
If you are interested in testing a formulation of this product, send an e-mail to preven@orahealth.com with answers to the questions below. (You may copy these questions into your e-mail and then add your answers). We will not reveal any information that identifies you to any person outside our company. We will not use your information for any purpose except our research.
If you qualify, we will send you a formulation of the denture adhesive to try and then report your results by e-mail. We will send improved formulations as they are developed for you to try and then we will send you a sample of the final product when the development is completed.
