New Cankermelts-GX introduced in Hi-School Pharmacies
VANCOUVER, WA Cankermelts-GX®, the only over-the-counter medication that heals canker sores in one to four days, is now available in Oregon and Southwest Washington at area Hi-School Pharmacies. Canker sores afflict 50 million Americans (20 percent of the population) numerous times each year. The product, by Orahealth Corporation, debuted online at Amazon.com and in Puget Sound drugstores and is currently outselling all previously available canker sore treatments in stores that carry it.
“As a lifelong canker sore sufferer, I was frustrated that there was nothing on the market that healed the sore,” said Jeff Haley, chief scientist and founder of Orahealth. “Other products just numb the sore or cover it. After two years of research and testing more than 250 different formulas, I developed Cankermelts-GX, which is easy-to-use and the only non-prescription product available that heals canker sores. If you apply Cankermelts immediately at the first sensation of a canker sore, it will be gone before it begins to hurt.”
The active ingredient in Cankermelts is Glycyrrhiza herbal extract (GX). GX has been found in clinical observations and double blind comparisons to shorten healing time to less than four days and typically one day on a new sore. Using any other product or nothing at all, sores usually heal in seven to fourteen days. The product also effectively heals other ordinary mouth ulcers, including denture sores and cuts from braces or biting your lip or cheek.
Cankermelts’ patented delivery system, invented by Haley, is a medicated disc, slightly smaller than a dime, that adheres (within one to two minutes) inside the mouth on or near the sore. As the time-released medicine is delivered, the disc naturally dissolves over two to six hours. Cankermelts can be used comfortably during any activity, including sleeping and exercising and do not interfere with normal functions, such as swallowing, chewing or talking.
“We are excited to be the first retailer in Oregon and Southwest Washington to carry a product that may soon be recognized throughout the nation as the leader for the treatment of canker sores. Based on initial consumer response, Cankermelts is a long-overdue solution,” said Byron Henry, Senior V.P. of Pharmacy Operations for Hi-School Pharmacy.
Formed in 2002, Orahealth Corporation is committed to providing the most effective medical treatments for healing and preventing canker sores and other ordinary mouth ulcers, including denture sores and cuts from braces or biting your lip or cheek. The privately-owned company is based in Bellevue, Washington.
Locally owned and operated Hi-School Pharmacy has 12 pharmacy/variety stores and 13 professional pharmacies located throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington.
